The mission of the University of Belgrade is to provide superior education and exceptional knowledge to its students, not only in terms of their intellectual growth and development, but also in terms of growth and development of their human qualities and ethical values, and inspiring their wish and inclination to be leaders; moving the boundaries of knowledge and higher education, promoting intellectual surroundings which cherishes and honors true values, respect and accepting people’s differences and devotion to knowledge, development and human values. The Faculty of Sport and Physical Education’s origins go as far back as 1938 when the first one-year school was established. Since 1946 the Faculty of Sport and Physical education has been educating higher education professionals in the field of Physical Education and Sport. In 1963, it became a member of the University of Belgrade.
As the largest and the oldest Faculty of Sport in Serbia, with about 1700 students per academic year and 63 academic staff, about 150 papers on SCI, SSCI and AHCI lists, numerous publications and several national and international projects, the Faculty of Sport and Physical Education has unique responsibilities toward the society. During the last fifteen years the Faculty has been organizing two international conferences and hosting more than two hundred researchers mostly from the European countries.
As a national university, it has agreements with umbrella organisations at the national and local level (Serbian Sports Federation and Belgrade Sports Association), as well as agreements with other national and local sports associations from different sports.
Regarding the scientific and research activity (University of Belgrade, Faculty of Sport and Physical Education), it can be said that they fit into the objectives of study programs and are incorporate in the teaching process. The Scientific and research activities at the Faculty are realized according to the defined scientific field – Physical education and sport. The Faculty is fully committed to permanent scientific, research and professional activities of its professors, researches and students as well as to cooperation with other scientific and research institutions. As an University department it is covering various kind of the sports project activities in the fields of higher education, lifelong education, research, product innovations, conferences, dissemination, publishing, etc. Based on these activities our institution is among 300 best universities according Shanghai Ranking's Global Ranking of Sport Science Schools and Departments. Our main activities are: Education for coaches, teachers, athletes, and volunteers in sport; Researches and innovation in the field of sport, biomedical, sociological and psychological science; Implementation of various professional activities (conferences, seminars, sports events, etc.).
Today, as a modern institution in the area of sport and physical education, the Faculty is dedicated to:
● to ensure high quality educated professionals, specialists and scholars in sport and education; to meet the conditions for educational and scientific-research activities;
● to enable transfer of scientific and professional knowledge and skills into practice;
● to involve teachers, associates and students in scientific research and practice.
Dr. Aleksandar Nedeljković .
Dr. Aleksandar Nedeljković is a full professor at the University of Belgrade - Faculty of Sport and Physical Education where she is teaching courses in Motor Abilities, Research Methods and Motor Control. He has almost 20 years of research and teaching experience both on national and international level. He compleeted two post-docs, one at Columbia University in New York and another one at University of Delaware in Newark (USA). Aleksandar is the author of more than 50 scientific articles. Dr. Olivera Knezevic.
Dr. Olivera Knezevic is a senior research associate and assistant professor at the University of Belgrade - Faculty of Sport and Physical Education where she is teaching courses Corrective exercise and Statistics in Physical Education and Sport. She is actively involved in several national and international projects and is an author of more than 45 scientific articles. She was a visiting researcher at University of Delaware (USA). Dr. Dragan Mirkov.
Dr. Dragan Mirkov is a full professor at the University of Belgrade - Faculty of Sport and Physical Education where he is teaching courses in Biomechanics, Informational systems in Physical Education and Sport and Statistics in Physical Education and Sport. He has over 20 years of research and teaching experience both on national and international level. He is a two-time DAAD alumni, and a guest professor at Justus Liebig University in Giessen (Germany). Dragan is the author of more than 70 scientific articles. Dr. Dejan Suzovic.
Dr. Dejan Suzovic is a full professor at the University of Belgrade - Faculty of Sport and Physical Education where he is teaching courses in Motor Abilities, and Motor Control. He also tought course in Outdoor Activities. He has nearly 20 years of research and teaching experience. Dejan is actively involved in several national projects and is the author of more than 15 scientific articles. His principal research interests are motor abilities and sports performance. Dr. Ana Orlic.
Dr. Ana Orlic is an associate professor at the University of Belgrade - Faculty of Sport and Physical Education where she is teaching courses in Psychology. Dr. Danica Janicijevic is a research associate at the University of Belgrade - Faculty of Sport and Physical Education.
